Their greatest assist yet - Vancouver Canucks Daniel and Henrik Sedin, together with their wives Marinette and Johanna, have made a gift of $1.5 million to help build a new BC Children’s Hospital.
The Sedin’s made their gift to support the hospital’s Campaign for BC Children, and specifically to the Intensive Care Unit and Diagnostics and Imaging area in the new hospital.
“Henrik and I along with our families feel very fortunate to live and work in this great city and province. We are committed to giving back to the community we live in and wanted to do something that would benefit children and families across the province,” said Daniel Sedin.
“Every time Daniel and I visit BC Children’s Hospital we meet kids and their parents who come from all over BC. This is our way of saying thank you to British Columbians for all the support we’ve received since we joined the Canucks,” said Henrik Sedin.
Home is where the heart is and the Sedin’s have been in Vancouver for 10 years and make regular visits to Children’s Hospital to help raise the spirits of the kids. Recently they filmed a series of public service announcements for the Foundation, and are again featured on our Jeans Day collateral for 2010.
Their donation was featured last night on Global TV. As soon as we get the clip, we will post it here. In the meantime, read more about their gift in the Vancouver Sun.
Thank you so much to the Sedin families! You are true Superheroes both on and off the ice.
