Global BC Takes the Super Community province-wide

We’ve got the story Global BC aired on Monday night featuring our first Super Community. Here’s the link.

Global is a huge supporter of the Campaign for BC Children and of the Search for a Super Community – running public service announcements and frequent news stories on the hospital. They are a great example of the many amazing corporate citizens who support BC Children’s Hospital and other causes around the province.

The more we work with these different corporate supporters, the more we come to understand what makes a really good company. It’s not necessarily the product they produce (although a good product certainly helps!) or the service they provide; it’s not the branding or the marketing – it’s the people. Often corporate leaders have a vision that involves giving back to their communities, but often these socially minded initiatives originate with the rank and file and then become part of the corporate culture.

Every year at Miracle Weekend, and on other occasions, I meet dozens of corporate volunteers who put so much time and energy into fundraising for BC Children’s.  Each of them has a story or reason for helping out and they are simply amazing people. Meeting them helps me put faces to the organizations that support us and allows me to see them in human terms.

All this is a long way of saying:  If I could name another Super Community, it would be BC as a whole.

Enjoy the video.
