Calling All Artists – Help Us Design a New ChildRun T-shirt

To help celebrate its 25th anniversary, the ChildRun team is launching a t-shirt design contest. They are inviting children across BC, ages 2 to 12, to submit a colourful drawing, and the winner will have their artwork featured on the ChildRun participant t-shirt. Oakridge Centre, the contest sponsor, will also display the new t-shirt design leading up to the event. And, best of all, thousands of event participants will be sporting the winning design on June 6.

Every year supporters lace up their runners and pull on their ChildRun t-shirts to proudly walk, run or wheel their way to the finish line in support of  BC kids suffering from cancer. Some run for lost loved ones, some run because they know or have a child who is fighting cancer, and everyone runs because it’s a fun way to show their support.

How do you enter? First, think of what ChildRun means to you. Childhood cancer is the second leading cause of death for children over one year of age in Canada, second only to accidents. Have you or someone close to you been affected by childhood cancer? Then pick up your crayons, paint brushes or felt markers and put those feelings on paper.

Draw your design horizontally on a plain white 8.5” X 11” sheet of paper and send it in to BC Children’s Hospital Foundation. All the entries will be on display at ChildRun on June 6, 2010 at BC Children’s Hospital in Vancouver. The entry deadline is Friday, April 23, 2010.

If you or anyone you know is eligible and would like show off their creative side, go to for more entry details.

This is the second year for the ChildRun T-shirt Contest. The challenge this year will be to make it bigger and better than last year by having more kids enter their drawings and to beat last year’s designs.

I can’t wait to see what the kids come up with this year!
